Boğaziçi University Human and Career Meeting

The first student meeting of the Women in Technology Association took place on 5 March 2020 at Boğaziçi University Albert Long Hall. The role models of the business world came together with the participation of students studying predominantly in STEM and other departments. The "Human and Career Meeting in Technology" event, organized under the coordination of Banu Alkın Köylüer, Educational Technologies Coordinator of our Members Alkev Schools, and Meltem Özgan, Vodafone Technology Customer Experience Consultant, was highly appreciated by both students and other participants.

The event, which started with the opening speeches of Boğaziçi University Vice Rector Naz Zeynep Atay and the Head of Women's Association in Technology, Zehra Öney, continued with an inspiring speech by Heidrick & Struggles Managing Partner Ayşegül Aydın. DenizBank Deputy General Manager Dilek Duman, Migros CIO Kerim Tatlıcı, Coca-Cola İçecek CIO Leyla Deliç, Doret Communication Consultancy Founder Doret Habib and Tink Schools Founder Zeynep, at the “Wtech Role Model” panel, moderated by Hill + Knowlton General Manager Pelin Kocaalp. They took place as a streamlined panelist. In the "Wtech Young Talks" panel, which was held to listen to students at the meeting point and take their perspective on the business world from their perspective, 3 students who studied in the technical departments under the moderation of 1 student shared their school life, their impact on their lives and their future expectations. Computer Engineering 3rd grade student Eylül Yalçınkaya, who we saw that inspiration started from a young age, shared with her friends that the difficulties she faced in her department were not related to gender, but to her individual effort.  She underlined that he overcame the algorithm course, which he had difficulty with, by working hard and that his identity was never an obstacle for him. In the Kahoot lottery that took place at the end of the event, our 12 students had valuable gifts such as mentoring, internship opportunities, lunch with role models, gift vouchers and office visits.
